BORDER TOWN BRAWL - (Lloydminster, Alberta, Canada) July 27th, 2002

The promotions team of Lloydminster's 'Kooler Nightclub' enlisted the assistance of North American WKA Representative Mike Miles to set up their first Kickboxing / Mixed Martial Arts event ever to be staged in the city of Lloydminster. The event was attended by over 500 spectators as the night wore on. The event even had great support and coverage from the local media. "I am very happy with our first event", said the Kooler's Nightclub Travis Quesnel. The event ran very professionally and smoothly with cooperation between athletes, and coaches, officials, and the representatives of the venue.

The following was the fight line up with the results:

Bout 1. 3 rounds of 2 minutes Full Contact rules (kicks above the waist) - maximum weight 175 lbs.
Kevin Brakefield (Calgary - Mike Miles Muay Thai) vs. Corey Smith (Medicine Hat - Jeff Sandford)
In a Full Contact rules bout (allowing kicks to be delivered only above the waist and each athlete having to execute 6 kicks that produced a reaction in each round), Brakefield won an unanimous decision in a very competitive bout.

Bout 11. 3 rounds of 2 minutes Kickboxing rules (kicks allowed to the legs) - maximum weight 130 lbs.
Meghan Aebig (Calgary - Trevor Smandych) vs. Jessica Gladstone (Medicine Hat - Shayne Morgan)
Many patrons felt this was the bout of the evening. Both athletes exchanged heavily. Aebig relied a little too much on the low kick. Gladstone mixed up her punches and kicks effectively and in higher numbers than Aebig won by unanimous decision. Gladstone has improved on her kicking ability.

Mr. Quesnel looks forward to his next promotion. "Congratulations to Mr. Quesnel for a well run show and allowing all these athletes to show their skills to the people of Lloydminster", said WKA Representative Mike Miles.
