"ROADHOUSE RUMBLE # 2" - (Lethbridge, Canada) March 17th, 2001

Promoters Lee Mein and Trevor Hardy hosted their second successful and sold out fight event on Saturday March 17th. Around 500 people attended the much anticipated event. Held at Lethbridge’s Roadhouse Night Club, the event showcased 3 fighting disciplines including: Kickboxing, Mixed Martial Arts and Submission Grappling competition. The event was sanctioned by the World Kickboxing Association and Canadian Mixed Martial Arts Council.

The Main Event featured Wyatt Lewis (from Progressive Fighting Academy) against American challenger Shawn Arnold (Big Sky Grappling) in a Mixed Martial Arts rules bout. Both athletes weighed in around the 210 lbs. mark. The bout see sawed back and forth. Lewis was in trouble from a blow but he recovered nicely to come back and force Arnold to tap out from a submission hold. Lewis went on to win the beautifully made ‘Best Fighter of the Event’ custom made ring. Great fight.

The Semi Main Event featured Lethbridge’s Ricardo Alas battling with Black Dragon’s Jason Bryant (Calgary) in a Kickboxing rules bout. Alas won the bout by unanimous decision in this very exciting bout.

The remainder of the event had the following results:

In a Lightheavyweight Mixed Martial Arts bout Shane Kisinger (Mein’s Mixed Martial Arts) forced Rich Martens (National Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu) to tap out.

In a Submission Wrestling bout, Conan Leferve (National Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu) won a decision over Elvis Aarts (Mein’s Mixed Martial Arts).

Jordan Pisko (Progressive Fighting Academy) KO’ed Elvis Lyon (Mein’s Mixed Martial Arts) with a right cross. The bout was a Mixed Martial Arts contest in the Lightheavyweight division.

Davor Kaluza (Progressive Fighting Academy) lost a close decision to the more experienced Sushil Nand (National Kickboxing & Muay Thai).

Derek Tisdale (Okanagan Jiu Jitsu Academy) forced his opponent Trevor Slavens (Mein’s Mixed Martial Arts) to tap out during their Mixed Martial Arts bout.

In the first bout of the evening Robert Mein won an unanimous decision over Matt Badura. This highly competitive bout set the mood for the rest of the evening with the audience participation being extreme to say the least.

A special exhibition bout had Brad 'The Brick’ Wall step into the ring against former top ranked Kickboxer Junior Olsen. No one was to know who Wall was going to exhibition against until it was time for the bout and the audience responded with delight when Olsen made his way into the ring. There was a 20 lb. weight difference between the two athletes. Wall, who has returned from training in Thailand for several months never had a chance to demonstrate any of his new skills as Olsen came forward and literally had Wall back pedaling throughout the 3 rounds. Olsen (32) announced after the exhibition match that after a 9 year hiatus, he is back and going to fight again. Though looking a little rusty, the skills are still there and Olsen will prove once again to be more than a handful to any competitor. Welcome back Junior!

Lethbridge has proven itself once again to have some of the best up and coming talent in the country. In Muay Thai and Kickboxing watch out for Junior Olsen, Brad Wall, and Ricardo Alas. In Mixed Martial Arts, watch out for Wyatt Lewis, Jordan Pisko and Shane Kisinger. There are many more names on the horizon!
