"ROADHOUSE RUMBLE # 5" - (Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada) February 23rd, 2002

Nick Ring of Calgary vs Bill Mahood of Prince George, BC
The main event was a Mixed Martial Arts fight featuring former Muay Thai athlete Nick Ring. The fight started with both fighters willing to use strikes with each other until Ring landed a few strong knees to the body, then the BC fighter took Ring down with a hip toss and got Ring in his guard. Ring escaped the guard and dominated on the ground as well. Round two started with more exchanges on their feet. Mahood landing more punches whereas Ring was landing devastating leg kicks. Mahood tried to take Ring to the ground again but this time reversed it and ended up having Mahood in a rear naked choke attempt. Ring abandoned the choke and got into his mount (keeping your elbows in and close to your body to avoid high mounts is a basic in grappling, which Mahood seemed to have forgotten). Mahoods skills led Ring to mount high and implement the ground 'n pound causing the ref to stop the fight and awarding it to Ring to insure no unnecessary injury to the BC fighter. This performance allowed Ring to walk away with the honor of being named the 'Fighter of the Night'.

Brad "The Brick" Wall of Lethbridge vs Brad Whiteside of Pemberton, BC
The fight started with Wall working his punches and kicks until he hurt his shin early in the first round. From that point on the fight turned into pretty much a boxing fight, with Wall throwing the odd kick. The whole fight was like a ping pong match, each fighter taking their turn to hit the other. Wall threw more combinations whereas the BC fighter was happy with single shots. The unanimous decision went to Wall.

Justin Tavernini of Lethbridge vs Blake Goddard of Trail, BC
The fight started with Tavernini coming out aggressively with his kicks and punches, but not landing effectively. Goddard was finishing all the exchanges with fewer but more effective blows of his own. This went on in all three rounds, with the exception of the third round where the BC fighter sent Tavernini to the canvas for an eight count. The fight ended with the unanimous decision going to the BC fighter.

Colin Van Loon of Lethbridge vs Aaron Bissett of Trail, BC
The BC fighter dominated all three rounds sending Van Loon to the canvas in the second (Bissett was so determined on winning the fight that despite the best efforts of the ref and his corner that he couldn't find the neutral corner). The unanimous decision went to Bissett.

Rob Mein of Lethbridge vs Gavin Neil of Trail, BC
Neil came out strong in the first round showing domination with his knees. The second round was the same as the first. The third round had Mein exhausted, resorting to shelling up to finish the fight. The unanimous decision went to Neil of BC.
