"RUMBLE IN REGINA # 4" - (Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada) February 23rd, 2002

Vivian Leung (Scheer’s Zen Karate - Saskatoon, Sk.) stepped into the ring to challenge Anna Mravcak (Spirit of the Dragon - Regina, Sk) for her WKA Western Canadian Kickboxing Title. Having fought each other less than 6 months ago, both athletes had time to work on their fight strategies for this second encounter. The taller Mravcak used her reach to land techniques from the outside while the shorter Leung used fakes and good footwork to get inside. Both fighters were in top form and condition putting everything they had into each round. Despite the height difference and difference in fighting styles the bout was incredibly close. After 5 rounds of solid action on the part of both fighters, Mravcak retained her title, winning the bout by majority decision.

Brandi Royer (Spirit of the Dragon - Regina, Sask) and Melissa Diamond (Double Dragon - Winnipeg, Man.) started the show off with a great action packed bout. The fight was close but Royer was able to use her experience to land a few more combinations than Diamond. The unanimous decision went to Royer.

Newcomer Brett Graham (Aurora Karate - Prince Albert, Sk.) stepped into the ring with Jason Primmer (Mike Miles Muay Thai - Calgary, Ab) for the second fight of the night. Primmer came out the aggressor in the first two rounds using clean crisp combinations to give Graham two standing eight counts. Graham stuck in and landed some nice combinations of his own but the fight went to Primmer with a unanimous decision.

Landon Brodner (Spirit of the Dragon - Regina, Sk.) and Sean Silver (Aurora Karate - Prince Albert, Sk) fought for the vacant WKA Junior SuperBantam Weight Saskatchewan Title. Brodner dominated the slightly shorter Silver landing a barrage of combinations in the first round. The young athletes were a crowd pleaser with the unanimous decision going to Brodner.

Scott Yung (Spirit of the Dragon - Regina, Sk.) and Leo Latfi (Double Dragon - Winnipeg, Man.) both stepped into the ring for the first time to put on a great fight. Both athletes came on full force with Latfi dominating the first round. Yung was able to pick up his pace in the second and third round to take the fight by unanimous decision.

Andrew Seis (Sprit of the Dragon - Regina, Sk.) successfully defended his WKA Saskatchewan SuperLightheavyweight Title against Jordan Bue (Aurora Karate - Prince Albert, Sk.). Both athletes came on hard in the first round. Seis was able to use his reach to land several straight punches on Bue bloodying his nose in the first round. Bue came back in the second round still fighting but bleeding profusely. Seis was awarded the fight by a TKO at the end of the second round.

Hillary Ibbott (Spirit of the Dragon - Regina, Sk.) faced off with Kyla Richardson (Scheer's Zen Karate - Saskatoon, Sk.). This fight was very close with both athletes landing a nice variety of hand and feet combinations. Richardson took the fight winning a unanimous decision. Former Kickboxing Champion and Professional Boxer Don Laliberte disagreed with the decision, "Ibbott clearly won the first round and did enough to win the second. She lost the third round clearly. " Makes for a great rematch!
